As an aid to level crossing maintenance, ADIF included in its investment plans the execution of projects for the remote monitoring of tracked equipment installed in the railway.

The System for Centralization and Information Processing of Level Crossing Recorders obtains, stores and processes information on the status of the variables of one or more level crossings currently obtained by the recorders installed on the track.

The system can represent at any time graphically the status of a series of level crossings, as well as incidents that occur, remotely and quickly.

The Level Crossing Recorder Centralization System has been operational since 2009, supervising 278 installations, fulfilling the objectives set by ADIF:

  • Improvement of the conditions of maintainability and availability of the level crossings with the consequent guarantee of security.
  • Immediate knowledge of the incidents produced, with all the information for risk assessment and corrective measures to be taken.
  • Fast fault clearance due to the level of detail of the information obtained and the possibility of anticipating the cause.
  • Precise information on the interventions performed by authorised personnel in the installations, both in terms of time and content.
  • Support for establishing and managing preventive and corrective maintenance programmes.
