ADIF awards ENA Tecnología the new installation of 7 level crossings on the Zafra–Huelva and Zafra–Jerez lines
ADIF has awarded ENA Tecnología the contract for the drafting of the construction project and execution of the works for the new installation of seven level crossings on lines 512 Zafra – Huelva Cargas and 514 Zafra – Jerez de los Caballeros, currently Class P, which will be upgraded to automatic Class A2 protection.
Project scope
The works cover the new protection installation at the following level crossings:
- Line 512 Zafra – Huelva Cargas
- K.P. 56/802 — Fuentes de León (Badajoz)
- K.P. 60/440 — Cumbres Mayores (Huelva)
- K.P. 68/124 — Cumbres Mayores (Huelva)
- Line 514 Zafra – Jerez de los Caballeros
- K.P. 0/969 — Puebla de Sancho Pérez (Badajoz)
- K.P. 6/306 — Alconera (Badajoz)
- K.P. 12/871 — Burguillos del Cerro (Badajoz)
- K.P. 16/520 — Burguillos del Cerro (Badajoz)
All seven locations are on single non-electrified track with automatic single-track block (BAU). Each installation will be tailored to its specific conditions of speed, visibility and traffic, in line with the functional programme for Class A2 protection.
Compliance with current regulations
The contract is framed within the process of adapting level crossings to Royal Decree 929/2020, of 27 October, on railway operational safety and interoperability (RDSOIF) and the Technical Specification for Level Crossing Protection Systems (ETC PN) issued by the Spanish Railway Safety Agency.
Class A2 — automatic protection with user-side warning — is the level defined by the RDSOIF for level crossings with the traffic, speed and visibility characteristics of lines 512 and 514.
