ADIF awards ENA Tecnología the renewal of operational telephony at four Centralised Traffic Control centres
ADIF has awarded ENA Tecnología the contract for the supply and installation of telecommunications equipment for the operational telephony service at its Centralised Traffic Control centres (CTCs). The tender, split into four lots, covers the main traffic management nodes of the Spanish rail network.
Contract scope
The project is organised in four lots:
- Lot 1 — East Operations Subdivision: CTCs of Valencia Fuente San Luis and Valencia Joaquín Sorolla.
- Lot 2 — Northeast Operations Subdivision: CTCs of Barcelona Término and Zaragoza.
- Lot 3 — Central Operations Subdivision: CTCs of Madrid-Chamartín, Madrid-Atocha and Manzanares.
- Lot 4 — South Operations Subdivision: CTCs of Seville Santa Justa, Córdoba, Granada, Málaga and Ronda.
The contract covers the supply of materials and equipment, as well as all operations and works required for their assembly, configuration and commissioning, integrating them into the existing installations and networks. It also includes any changes to the current network topology and architecture, and the configuration of already deployed equipment.
A more flexible network architecture
The goal of the project is to break the one-to-one link that currently exists between field equipment, the CTC that manages it and the Control Post located at that CTC. Under the new architecture:
- Regulation Bands or rail sections of a given geographical area will be manageable from more than one CTC, which no longer need to be located in the same geographical area as the sections they manage.
- A Control Post will not only manage the Regulation Bands of its own CTC, but will also be able to connect remotely to another CTC and manage that centre’s Regulation Bands.
This evolution adds an additional layer of operational resilience and efficiency to rail traffic management, while maintaining the safety and availability standards required by ADIF.
National coverage
The contract is of a clearly strategic nature and affects the autonomous regions of the Valencian Community, Catalonia, Aragon, the Community of Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha and Andalusia, consolidating ENA Tecnología’s presence at the main hubs of the national rail network.
